Patrick Coons guides individuals and families through the second half of life with thoughtful, personalized planning. Part financial strategist, part story guide, he helps clients align their money with what matters most—so they can live fully and leave a legacy they are proud of.
His mission began on a fly fishing trip in the Colorado Rockies, inspiring him to help clients find peace, clarity, and purpose with their finances. With nearly three decades of experience, Patrick built SlateRiver Financial on the values of authenticity, education, and long-term trust.
Clients appreciate his humility, focus, and genuine desire to understand their story before offering advice. He lives by the principle, “Leave people better than you found them,” aiming to make every conversation a blessing.
Outside work, Patrick enjoys hiking, running long distances (including the Grand Canyon), fly fishing, and spending time with his wife and kids. Inspired by Henry B. Eyring’s reminder to treat others with care, Patrick centers his work on what matters eternally.
His ideal retirement is simple and purposeful—mornings with family on mountain bikes or paddle boards, mentoring youth, and plenty of time outdoors.

As founder of SlateRiver Financial, Becky Coons has been dedicated to helping clients achieve “A Story Worth Living” since 2017. Serving also as the firm’s human resources administrator, Becky strives to empower the entire team behind the scenes, enabling them to deliver a quality experience for our clients. As a licensed agent with a background in educating clients through in-person seminars, she maintains a genuine passion for uplifting others along their unique financial journeys.
In her day-to-day work, Becky enjoys meeting people where they are. She and her team then help them reach their retirement milestones by building out a custom path based on their needs and goals. Becky always lives by the principle that the stories we tell ourselves shape our outcomes, and she draws inspiration from the stories of others every day.
On any given weekend, Becky can be found camping, hiking, or heading to the beach with her family. A former wilderness survival camp leader for teens, she still seeks adventure whenever she can. As for her own vision for retirement? Traveling in a camper van, paddle boards and mountain bikes in tow, ready to explore new places and create new stories.
